News Release

Bristol Compressors, a
division of Johnson Controls, approved a new family of steel-body external
mufflers, designed by Kraftube, Inc., a Michigan company, for use with air
conditioning and heat pump systems powered by Benchmark series reciprocating
compressors.
Kraftube’s steel body
mufflers were designed as alternative products for copper external mufflers.
With copper prices at or near historic highs, Kraftube’s steel body mufflers
should we welcomed by cost conscious users.
Kraftube’s steel external mufflers will be available in 2007.
Designed from the ground up,
Benchmark compressors streamline refrigerant flow to reduce noise and
vibration. Now the standard in
reciprocating compressor technologies, Benchmark resets the paradigm for
choosing the best compressor for any HVAC of heating application.
Kraftube’s external mufflers
are rated by Bristol as comparable, or better, than copper mufflers, and offer
design flexibility because their tubular steel bodies can be easily altered to
optimize system performance. Copper
inlet tubes can also be lengthened or shortened to suit customer needs.
Application data for
Kraftube’s external mufflers for Benchmark compressors is as follows:

Kraftube has operated
continuously since 1946. The company is
a principle supplier of brazed assemblies used in compressors that power air
conditioning and refrigeration appliances.
Kraftube is a unique company in that all tube forming stamping and
furnace brazing is done at the same location.

Bristol
Compressors, a division of Johnson Controls, signed an exclusive agreement with
Kraftube, Inc, a Michigan company, to supply mufflers for Bristol’s
revolutionary Benchmark brand reciprocating compressors. Benchmark suction and discharge mufflers
will be partially manufactured in India by Kraftube’s partner, Tech Auto
Private Limited, and exported to Kraftube USA from where they will be completed
and shipped to Bristol.
Benchmark
compressors were designed from the ground up to streamline refrigerant flow to
reduce noise and vibration. Benchmark
compressors are widely regarded as the new standard for reciprocating
compressor technology.
Bristol
endorses Benchmark reciprocating compressors as comparable, or superior, to
scroll compressors for sound and performance up to 3 tons, making the products
an ideal, affordable choice for residential air conditioning and heat pump
systems.
Kraftube
has operated continuously since 1946.
The company is a principle supplier of furnace brazed and fabricated
tubular assemblies used in compressors that power air conditioning and
refrigeration appliances. Kraftube is
unique in that all of the company’s tube forming, stamping and brazing is done
at the same location. The continuous
flow of parts without the need to outsource maximizes quality.
Kraftube’s
alliance with Tech Auto Private Limited, located in Ludhiana, 300 kms North of
New Delhi, India’s capital, provides a breakthrough for Kraftube to receive
quality labor-intensive ferrous products from Asia. Before this alliance was established, Kraftube enjoyed the cost
advantage of receiving components from Asian suppliers, but gave it all back
because of quality and delivery problems. Customers are assured of receiving products
from Kraftube, by way of India, that meet all standards for quality and
adherence to print, because the parts are brazed and leak tested by Kraftube
USA. This arrangement provides a
significant labor cost advantage compared to parts made entirely in the US.

News Release

Copeland Corporation, a division of Emerson Electric
Company, selected Kraftube, Inc., a Michigan company founded in 1946, to
supply components for three new reciprocating compressors Copeland will bring
to market. Kraftube is a principle
supplier of components used in compressors that power air conditioning and
refrigeration appliances.
Kraftube will supply
primary discharge mufflers and secondary discharge tube assemblies for
Copeland’s CRKQ series compressors.
CRKQ compressors feature a compact frame suitable for room air
conditioners and mini-split systems.
Copeland says CRKQ compressors are more reliable, quiet and efficient
than comparable size reciprocating compressors offered by other companies and
should be the product of choice for builders of moderately priced homes and
condominiums.
Kraftube will supply
primary discharge mufflers for Copeland’s SystemPro low-temperature CF series
compressors for commercial refrigeration.
Copeland expects CF compressors to dominate the fast-growing ice machine
market.
Kraftube will also
supply primary discharge mufflers for Copeland’s Optima series compressors used
heretofore primarily for residential air conditioning. Copeland is expanding Optima to four tons to
allow the compressors to also be used for
commercial refrigeration.
Kraftube is unique
in that the company does all its own tube forming, stamping and furnace brazing
at one location.

Bristol Compressors, a division of York International Corporation, awarded contracts for the manufacture of discharge muffler assemblies for the company’s TS (Twin Single) compressors to Kraftube, Inc., a Michigan company founded in 1946. Kraftube is a principle supplier of air conditioning and refrigeration components to U.S. compressor OEMs.
TS compressors can operate in forward or reverse. This technology allows the air conditioner or heat pump to match its performance to required capacity. In forward direction, both pistons operate, providing full power to the system. When reversed, a unique crankshaft design allows one piston to remain idle, allowing the system to operate at 40% to 50% capacity, which saves energy.
Kraftube is unique in that the company does all its own tube forming, stamping and furnace at one location.
